2008 China (Dalian) International Cultural Industry &Folk Handicrafts Collection Exhibition

    With the upcoming 29th Olympic Games which will be held in Beijing in 2008, China has become a global focus. Hence there is a wave of Chinese culture and Chinese tourism all over the world.

    Nowadays most countries pay more and more attention to the protection and inheritance of folk handicrafts and collections. As a country with a traditional culture of thousands of years, China has also enhanced the protection and inheritance of traditional culture. The Center of International Culture Exchange of Ministry of Culture, P.R. China,The Identification Council of Chinese folk art Collection, Dalian Municipal People’s Government, China’s Council for the Promotion of International Trade Dalian Sub-Council and Dalian University co-organize the 2008 China (Dalian) International Cultural Industry and Folk Handicrafts Collection Exhibition, aiming at boosting the communications concerning the protection and inheritance in the relevant  fields, as well as establishing a platform for communication and exchange of the folk handicrafts and collection industry throughout the world. The exhibits include collections from China, Japan, Korea, Russia, Southeast Asia, Africa, Europe, South America, etc. The exhibiting area covers 8500 square meters, and the number of the booths is added up to 360.

    Dalian, locating in the northeast of China, is a famous beautiful coastal city. It’s no more than 600 kilometers away from Beijing, and it takes only 50 minutes to commute between the two cities by air. Besides, Dalian is one of the most livable cities in China, and has been recruited in the "Global Top 500" list maintained by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), as the first in China, the second in Asia. Dalian is also the largest trade harbor in Northeast China, the start point of the Eurasia Land Bridge and the ideal transit port of land transportation. It has built trade and shipping relationship with over 140 countries.

    The 2008 China (Dalian) International Cultural Industry Exhibition & Folk Handicrafts and Collection Exhibition will attract tens of thousands of artisans, purchasers and professional attendees, so as to promote the growth and prosperity of the investment and trade on folk handicrafts all over the world. Inheritance, protection, development, mergence will be the goal and belief of ICIE2008.
